I'm walking 62 miles in May

I’m walking 62 miles in May and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Day 8

Thursday 8th May
After early Physcio appointment and not doing any walking yesterday as knee swollen I walked a mile straight after physio appointment and a little later walked a few lengths of pool at David Llyod and completed new load bearing knee exercises in the pool. I will reach target of 62 miles but may take a little longer than the Month of May 24 - The condition of my knee with dictate that. Little by little get back but it’s a slow recovery

Day 6 - Walking in Swimming pool as knee swollen - But that’s ok isn’t it?

Tuesday 6th May
Dementia UK May 25 Charity walk following total knee replacement.

Day 6

Another night of broken sleep as knee swollen from the walking over the weekend, Spent hours on the ice machine during the day and decided that walking in a swimming pool may be easier on my knee so I walked approx 62 lengths of the pool at David Lloyd Milton Keynes with phone around my neck in a water pool pouch. To be honest after 20 lengths knee was so sore so I started walking backwards and hopping to give knee a rest - It does not matter how you achieve the distance as long as you do right?

Anyway knee seemed to loosen up a bit towards the end which is a bonus, 7 weeks post knee replacement now surely must turn the corner soon and not have the stiffness, pain and swelling.

Determined to recover and also reach the walking target which may take me a little longer than one month

Thank you for all of those that have sponsored me so far, if you would like to support me and a fantastic charity see link below

Thanking you all in advance

Day 3 - 1 mile walk

Saturday 3rd May
Walked 1 mile this afternoon as resting knee in bed all morning. knee very stiff as if there 100 elastic bands around it. Janice walked with me as well as Harvey the Dog. Had to sit on bench half way around as knee painful and sore. My knee clicks every step. When I got home the knee was hot to the touch and painful - So ice machine primed and realty - Thanks to Janice and now I’m on ice machine which is providing relief and hopefully keeping further swelling away.

Day 2 - 1 mile walk of the 62 mile requirement

Friday 2nd May
Today I spend 90 minutes with knee on ice machine  ahead of the 1 mile walk, although the knee very stiff and clicking on every step I managed to complete the walk for the first time without stopping and sitting down on benches. Back home now and on ice machine hoping the knee does not swell so I can go again tomorrow. I would like to thank each and everyone of you that have donated  and if anyone would like to donate no matter how small will make a big difference see link below

Thanking you all in advance ❤️❤️❤️❤️

First walk of 1 mile

Thursday 1st May
So the challenge begins - I walk 1 mile around cricket pitch that’s close to home, Due to recently having knee replacement had to stop and sit down twice and at the end of it knee painful so straight on the ice machine to calm the knee down, I will see what it is like later this afternoon and if not swollen more than this morning may walk I the swimming pool and Milton Keynes David Lloyd.

The start of May 62 mike walking challenge

Thursday 1st May
Good morning, A little fearful as I’m getting over total knee replacement surgery and knee is swollen and stiff so this is a real challenge to me - I will try to walk a mile around the local cricket pitch today and maybe walk some lengths in the local David Lloyd swimming pool - Wish me luck.

By the way I would like to thank all of you that have been so generous sponsoring me - Tjis is very much appreciated

Wishing you all the most fantastic day, and remember there is always someone worse off than you
